Hives Before Bed

I was reading Owen a book around 7pm, and I noticed that he had some generalized itching on his face, neck, and back. At 7:30 he continued to have itching, and I noticed hives on his neck and back. I gave him benadryl.

I don't know what started the itching. He ate dinner at 5 pm. He was playing games at the dinner table, so maybe he contacted an allergen that way. I did wipe down the table after dinner. I just don't know.

Joanna, Owen's got severe food allergies, sounds just like my son Ben. We had him tested for allergies and they were many: food colouring, peanuts, orange juice, eggs, nuts, food additives, bananas, store-bought cookies, donuts, Smarties, M&Ms, Quaker and Mr Christie, Kelloggs, cereals and granola bars, etc. So I am going to suggest that you try what we did, we took all the foods off except rice. For a few days, he ate only white rice (yes..) and then we added one thing for another few days and when there were no hive breakouts, we added another one. Eventually we had a list of safe foods that he could eat and a list of foods to avoid. I hope this helps. Ben is now 15, and he has outgrown a few allergies but he still watches what he eats, takes an oral antihistamine, and is careful about chemical products as well (shampoo, hand/body lotions, etc). You can email me at dpianofingers@yahoo.com (Ivea) if you like.

My daughter has that too sometimes her name is katelyn she is now 12 years old and she has had it since she was 1. The reson your son might have this is...

what ever you had for dinner he might of been alergic too.

There might of been a lot of dust on the table

Or one of you or someone might of spilled something on the table a while ago and he has touched there and there fore a reaction has happend

hope that helps
